Laura,
It has been a while since I left your elegant encampment, and I apologize for not getting back to you sooner.
As I illustrate the "hardships" of my situation, I hope you will gain an understanding of just how valuable to Haiti are you and your organization.
I have spent the last two weeks desperately searching for a desk.
Or a table, even, with a comfortable chair. Electricity would be nice, and the Internet a damned luxury.
I have collected so much material from my travels, but am unable to compose and publish it because I can't get a decent place to work.
I sit on the edge of beds, I work on windowsills, I slum in lobbies for wi-fi.
And I am just one person trying to narrate his experience online. Imagine struggling to start up an entire organization from a motel room? My mind reels at the impossibilities.
So when people ask you; "What good is Haiti Communitere?" Tell them that it's desks and chairs, that it's a collaborative environment, that it's security and stability.
Tell them it is a place where a dream for a better Haiti can stand a fighting chance.
Thanks for all you have done.
