INDIA
March 2-28, 2017, India - How I endure Moldovan winters is to avoid them, and I so spent the month of March in India. About one-third the size of the U.S., a person could easily spend a year touring this beautiful country, I chose to tour the north because Royal India Motorcycles is in Delhi, where I rented a beautiful Royal Enfield 500cc EFI Bullet Motorcycle ($600/mo.) I collected my photographs in several albums:

I made this slideshow smaller because it is not so much about the photos as the story. Early in this trip, I thought about printing some kind of sticker with U.S. and Indian flags that I could give as a token "thank you" to the many incredibly friendly Indians who helped me every day.
I found a print shop in Amritsar and ordered the stickers. The guys there thought it was a clever idea and a nice gesture, so I figured I was scoring points already. I ordered 200 stickers, then, realizing that I would likely go through them pretty quickly, I also ordered 300 cards to last me the month. I recommend at least having cards when traveling. These really helped me communicate my name and also my website where Indians can see photos I took of them, but they were also sincere, albeit token, thank-you gifts. I imagine that, should I return 10 or 20 years from now, I may see some of my stickers still hanging in the stores, repair shops or hotels in India, but then, I also bet that some were removed as soon as I left! |
